Location is amazing, beach was beautiful, dolphins everywhere. We ended up in two different rooms due to an out of service elevator in one of the buildings—we were not told ahead of time despite notifying that one in our group needed accommodation at time of booking. We were told the buildings are owned privately and South Seas has no control over it when we asked after arriving. The first beach villa was in much need of renovation. Worn down stained carpet, dirty sheets. Looked nothing like the photos presented online. South Seas did immediately rectify the issue with the elevator and moved us to a different building. Everyone was kind. The second villa with the functioning elevator was new, beautiful, and clean. The new pool area was about 2 miles from our beach villa but there was plenty of parking. The two resort pools were really nice and kids enjoyed the slides. They make you charge everything to your room, no option to pay at point of service which was odd. Overall we enjoyed the stay.

My family has been coming to south seas for 40 years and I am so disappointed in this place I used to say was my favorite place on earth. For starters, the construction on the resort is still everywhere, and the resort is not transparent about this AT ALL. While I understand there have been two, very recent and devastating hurricanes, and the time it takes to rebuild is out of their control, the resort is obviously paying/gifting influencers on social media to highlight the parts of the resort that are complete and yet hide away the vast majority that is still a work in progress. The resort used to be a quiet and perfect sanctuary, and they are utilizing the rebuild to turn into a tourist trap. The beginnings of the water park at the front of the resort is atrocious. On the note of construction, the resort is building a restaurant on sunset beach that says “coming summer 2025.” It is August 2025 now and it does not look near completion. Prior to the hurricane, the beach bar at sunset beach was perfect. Due to construction of this monstrous building on the beach, there is hardly any room for families to walk onto the beach. While the restaurant is being built, there is only a small burger truck serving an entire beach worth of people. This burger truck is staffed with only two brand-new employees, who are working tirelessly inside a truck that is 130 degrees and not air conditioned. Sunset beach used to be such fun place for families, where everyone on the resort gathered for sunset, enjoying with live music and frozen drinks from the bar. This week, there were maybe max 5 people at the beach at sunset, with no added fun from the resort. Speaking of drinks, one of the biggest disappointments this week was the changes to the main pool tiki bar. The only thing that appears to have somewhat stayed the same on the entire resort is the main pool. And yet, this is somehow worse as well. The bar at the main pool, used to be the Crooked Snook, used to be my family’s favorite place for a frozen daiquiri to enjoy the views. Now, not only has this bar been moved off of the water, this “beach bar” doesn’t even have a blender, and instead pours their frozen drinks from a slushy machine - drinks that taste disgusting. Their daiquiris used to be delicious!! My family used to enjoy ice cream from scoops and Slices every night after dinner. Scoops used to be a bright, fun, kitschy diner - esque spot that was a fun spot for kids. The new scoops is sterile, empty, and boasts a soft serve machine that doesn’t even work. Finally, I can’t address the changes withoit addressing the logo. Coming from a marketing background, I can’t believe this logo was ever approved. The south seas island resort was classic, the font perfect and simple, expressing the true nature of the resort. The new logo fits in perfectly with the cheesy waterpark, and is not cohesive with the resort at all, as the striped beach chair on the logo is nowhere to be found on the resort. Instead of gathering opinions of the people who have come to the resort for years and years, the new ownership has clearly done everything they can to quickly make a buck. In addition to everything mentioned above, several beloved walking paths (such as lands end, along the marina) are no longer available due to the construction that appears to have no end in sight. I do hope the ownership evaluates some of these reviews and thoughts from long time visitors and makes some changes before it is too late.
