Hawks Cay Resort logo

Slow things down with a laidback, secluded escape to the ever-sunny Florida Keys at Hawks Cay Resort, where guests are invited to kick back and relax on the private island of Duck Key. Comfortable rooms and self-contained villas create a home-away-from-home experience, but with the number of activities available, you’ll be raring to stay outside all day. Spend your time hopping between the five pools and lagoons, snorkelling in turquoise waters, spotting dolphins or paddling to neighbouring islands. Kids are spoilt for choice with specialised activities: there’s a pirate ship pool with a water slide, basketball court, putt-putt golf course, resident mermaid and much more. When hunger strikes, there are six onsite dining venues to choose from, including a poolside tiki grill bar for colourful cocktails and fresh salads.

And absolutely lovely resort Minus a few things that were broken in the room that we notified the front desk about so we would not be charged. It was very clean and updated I highly recommend no matter where you go to rewash the dishes before you use them in the kitchen I was hoping for more than one set of towels in the rooms, especially with the jacuzzi in the patio The front desk and the main lobby service was phenomenal. It is beautiful The pool is wonderful The bar at the pool is wonderful The food was good. I got the spicy jalapeno Margarita off a very unique pool bar menu . Tasty. The fish dip was good. It did not need the caviar on top. We shopped in the gift shop. Very reasonable prices and a great selection of items. There was always fresh cold water in the lobby The cafe breakfast food was phenomenal. You could always get a good specialty coffee made for you. No need to find a Starbucks. The dolphin experience was disappointing because I expected a little bit more. If you wanted to get in the water it was several hundred which for children I believe would be an excellent experience. For adults not so much. The lagoon with sea water in the back was beautiful and a nice touch outside of the pool. We did not get an opportunity to use any other amenities as we did a lot of sight seeing through several islands and it was a short trip. We stayed in the bungalow houses a few streets away from the main lobby It was a little difficult to navigate and find it so there could be an opportunity for signage.

I am writing this review to express my disappointment with my recent stay at Hawks Cay Resort. There were multiple issues that left us feeling misled and taken advantage of. First, our room was not cleaned for two days. When I raised the issue, I was told that housekeeping was “by request only” since it wasn’t busy season. At no point during check-in was this communicated to us. As a result, our coffee pods were never replenished, forcing us to purchase our own coffee. Even when the room was finally cleaned, the coffee was still not restocked. Second, at checkout we were surprised with a $25/day parking fee for our rental car. When booking through Expedia, we were informed about the $55 resort fee, but at no time were we told there would be an additional parking charge. Not at booking, not at check-in. This feels deceptive and unacceptable. Lastly, this trip was for my wife’s birthday. We saw the TV screen displaying birthdays and asked if her name could be added. We were told this had to be requested at the time of booking. How would a guest possibly know this in advance if it’s never mentioned? It felt like yet another missed opportunity to show even a basic level of hospitality. Overall, the lack of communication, surprise fees, and disregard for guest experience reflect poorly on your resort. These issues should be addressed Update: Thank you for addressing my concerns. Your a stand up company which i will recommend to all my friends. See you n a few months !

I’m going to give an overall detailed review on our experience. First off because it’s most important we have pending daily charges on our account that are not approved and outside of our $378.75 final bill from Hawks Cay that we agreed upon at checkout since we went over our bill in detail. There are fiver EXTRA charges for $203.95. I have tried calling the hotel and the phone just rings until it eventually hangs up on me. I would like it if I can receive a phone call or email back. This needs to be addressed. I will post a photo for proof. We checked out 9 days ago, I will update this review once this has been addressed my management. COSTCO BOOKING: We booked through Costco so if you’re booking through Costco there are something’s you should know. First off, they require a $200/day deposit so we had to pay a security deposit of $1,500.00. Second, upon check in they tried to charge an extra $244– when I questioned them because Costco INCLUDED ALL FEES (parking, resort, etc) they lady went into the back and when she came back she stated never mind those don’t apply to me. There is no direct beach access on Duck Key Island which is where this hotel is located OR beach access from the hotel. They have a lagoon area which is cool but more so for kids. There are several places on the resort to eat. Salt and Ash was the ONLY food worth its price and taste was amazing! The cafe for breakfast was WAY overpriced for what you get and the taste compared to a continental breakfast at a Hilton hotel. I will say everyday we did get coffee there and it was great! The Tiki Bar outside by the family pool is amazing— sure drinks are pricey but they make your drinks strong. Every bar tender was also super nice and willing to make you whatever. POOLS: Unfortunately the pools were only open from sunrise to sunset every single day (we were there 8 days) so during the day when we were exploring we couldn’t enjoy the pool of hot tub once we came back. This was very disappointing and had we known this we would have stayed elsewhere. When checking out we brought this to a managers attention (white male) and he stated the pool shouldn’t have been closed when it did and that he would look into it. The room was beautiful, very clean, the hotel smelt great, and overall it was a quiet family friendly hotel! There is a language barrier with housekeeping and some hotel staff but it was easy to work around. Housekeeping is by request only and has to be done in 24hrs advance. Upon checking out we had issues again with being over charged. First, the $244 charge was back on there and when I brought it up to the manager he gladly removed that charge. Then there was parking fees, daily conservation fees, and some miscellaneous fee. I politely told the manager that those fees were all already included in our Costco package and he gladly removed all the fees. It went from $800 to $378.75– it would have been 0 BUT we didn’t have room charged but food/drinks at the hotel. The $50/day food and drink credit through Costco was amazing! We used it everyday! All in all— I’m not sure we would choose to stay here again especially after not being able to get ahold of the hotel to get out $1,019.75 back that they wrongfully charged us. I will attach our final “bill” which came out of our deposit for room charges and we went through item by item with the manager to make sure everything was correct.
