This is a classic, older-style hotel that is very well maintained and offers excellent value for money. At check-in, the hotel director personally greeted guests with thanks, and the front desk staff gave a kind and thorough explanation of the facilities, leaving a great first impression. Although some rooms still show their age due to ongoing renovations, the property feels more “classic and well-kept” than outdated. Compared with many Japanese hotels recently struggling with staffing shortages, the maintenance here stands out in a very positive way. Breakfast is served in the restaurant that also functions as a lounge, with high ceilings and plenty of natural light. It’s especially charming on rainy mornings, enjoying coffee while looking out the window. The lounge also provides tea time and evening cocktails for all guests. While this can make it a bit crowded—and perhaps less exclusive for Accor Platinum members and above—it’s also one of the unique charms of staying here. The only drawbacks are that, unlike what you might expect from a Grand Mercure brand, there is no gym, and the hotel often accommodates tour groups and families with children, which can make it a little noisy at times. Still, considering the value for money, these are manageable trade-offs. The location is about a 5-minute walk from Nishi-Juitchome Station (Exit 1) and around 20 minutes on foot from Sapporo Station. It’s not in the middle of the bustling downtown, but it’s close to Hokkaido University and the Hokkaido University Botanic Garden, both of which are great for a stroll if you have time. If you’re visiting Sapporo for the second time or beyond, and prefer something quieter and more budget-friendly than staying right in the nightlife district, this hotel is a solid choice.

I booked a room at a nearby hotel so I could go to the sushi restaurant I wanted to go to. Unfortunately, the sushi restaurant I wanted to go to was closed for the Obon holiday, but the hotel was within walking distance of Sapporo Station, and I had a car anyway.

Quite a spacious room considering the hotel room sizes in Japan. Check in was quite efficient as they send you an email to pre-check in a day or two before your arrival. The hotel is rather dated, therefore the rooms are as well. Yellowish lights, lack of in-room amenities, super soft pillows (not my personal preference) and if you’re not driving, this hotel may be slightly far from the station.

Worst Accor stay. Shame on the brand for having such hotels robbing people of their money. I will share all the horrible pictures I took on socials for everyone to know before they book. The rooms had fungus, torn carpets, settled dust, flying dust, mould , smelly toilets and what not. Air conditioning never worked the entire time, they are making people fools coz they don’t have air conditioning properly working in the entire hotel. They will provide you a fan in the room and expect you to be grateful and happy for booking their air conditioned rooms. For all the inconvenience we went through, the manager just had a SORRY ready for everything. Big shame, never had such a bad experience. My trust with the brand breaks here.
