We’ve stayed here 4 times for the convenience of going to Disney for a family vacation. Room service is AMAZING!!! The food is great and everyone is friendly not to mention how gorgeous this hotel is.

This is a beautiful hotel and very convenient to the parks, but I’m giving this 5-Star review based on their service even after check out. My mother-in-law left her checkbook and an envelope of cash in the safe but didn’t realize it until she was heading to the gate to catch her connecting flight in the Dallas airport. She was in a total panic obviously, completed an online form in addition she called the front desk. It was confirmed that housekeeping had found the checkbook and cash envelope, and secured those items. My mother in law received the items in the mail 3 business days later. What could’ve been a really bad situation ended up being a magical moment thanks to the service at this Disney hotel.

Our recent four-night visit to the Grand Californian was a fantastic experience, largely thanks to the Club Level access. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the attentive and friendly staff, who consistently acknowledged us with warm smiles throughout our stay. The Club Lounge was a highlight, with its generous and continuously replenished offerings of food, drinks, and snacks. While our room, featuring two queen beds and a day bed for our family of four, felt a bit small, the lounge offered a spacious and relaxing alternative. We spent three days exploring both parks and had a truly amazing time. One thing to note is that fireworks are only scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so weeknight visitors should plan accordingly.

I stayed at the Grand California Hotel & Spa, and the entire experience was dark, depressing, and full of anxiety. The moment I stepped into the lobby, my mood changed instantly — it went from excitement to gloom in seconds. The atmosphere was heavy, dingy, and outdated. Instead of feeling energized for my trip, I felt drained, anxious, and uninspired. My room was no better. The carpeting was so old it felt disgusting to walk on. The tub in the bathroom was outdated and creepy, making me not even want to step inside. The beds felt like hammocks stretched over flat wooden frames — cheap and uncomfortable. Nothing about the room was magical, desirable, or worth the price. It just made everything feel flat, lifeless, and short of expectations. Construction outside added more noise and frustration, layering on to the already negative experience. There was no comfort, no joy, no sense of luxury. Just constant disappointment and a heavy cloud over the whole stay. One of the biggest frustrations was the valet. It cost $70 plus tax (around $80), and when you first arrive, you’re funneled straight into it without being told other options. When I asked, I was pointed toward a faraway public lot that looked like a trek to get back from. Later, I discovered the actual parking lot is directly across the street. That kind of deception — squeezing guests for extra money — is the opposite of Disney’s promise of magic and honesty. This hotel destroyed the vibe of my trip. The instant mood change, the outdated feel, the noise, the lies about parking, the uncomfortable beds — it all added up to one of the lowest points of my travels. For the money, this place is absolutely not worth it. I would not recommend it to anyone.
