What You’ll Love…

The Estate – Award-winning luxury in the heart of nature

This eco-friendly retreat boasts an impressive list of awards from the likes of Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure – and it’s not hard to see why. Not many settings can match the unspoilt beauty of 2,500 acres of ancient forest, trout streams and lakes in New Zealand’s Rotorua, and this luxurious lodge truly makes the most of its spectacular setting with an on-site kitchen garden, Manuka honey aviaries and a spa spilling out onto the wilderness with outdoor jacuzzis set amongst the forest. Guests are invited to relax, unwind, nourish themselves with gourmet organic cuisine and be at one with nature whilst staying in absolute privacy and serenity.

The Inclusions – Decadent dining and authentic local experiences

The indulgence begins as soon as you arrive at the lodge, with a bottle of wine and cheese platter awaiting you. Start each day with a full breakfast, kicking off with fresh seasonal fruits and homemade muesli followed by your choice of à la carte dish cooked to order; whether that’s a free-range omelette or a heartier full cooked breakfast. One spectacular dining experience for two awaits, starting with a pre-dinner drink and canapés, followed by a gourmet five-course dinner, during which you will experience Treetops’ ‘Estate-to Plate’ cuisine, crafted with organically grown vegetables, fruits and herbs from the kitchen garden, seasonal game and fish.

Experience local culture and the beauty of the estate with three complimentary experiences included in your package. Take your pick from a selection including a Nocturnal Tour to search for possums and glow worms under the light of the stars, a Maori Food Trail, which will show you how native flora and fauna was used in the creation of medicines, a trip to the estate’s very own waterfall, Bridal Veil Falls, and a guided Mountain Bike Explorer tour. With late check-out at midday guaranteed, you’ll be able to make the most of your time on this beautiful estate.

Your Villa - Reconnect with nature

Stay in your very own cosy hideaway in one of the lodge’s gorgeous villas, nestled amongst the forest or overlooking the lakes. Complete with a fireplace and bubbling spa bath, the villas offer plenty of space, with separate sleeping and living areas and kitchenette facilities.

The Location – Secluded beauty just a short distance from the geothermal city of Rotorua

Treetops Lodge & Estate is nestled in 2,500 scenic acres just a 20-minute drive from the heart of Rotorua with its bubbling mud pools, Pohutu Geyser, living Maori village and beautiful lake, less than a three-hour drive from Auckland.

See & Do – Kayaking, biking, walking and more on the beautiful estate

A selection of three experiences in and around the estate are included for you in your package, in addition to self-guided activities such as walking, kayaking, outdoor bowls and geocaching, where you navigate yourself to a treasure location.

Treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment, such as a body scrub with estate-sourced Manuka honey, followed by a soak in one of the estate’s outdoor Jacuzzis. Golfers can take advantage of New Zealand’s number-one golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, located just a 45-minute drive from the estate by Lake Taupo, while the famous Hobbiton movie set is just a one-hour and 20-minute drive away.

Incredible property - quiet rural location - with lots of history. Not for everyone very remote. Food outstanding Make sure to inquire about activities as there are amazing walks, high end bikes and of course trophy hunts but no information was provided at reservation or check in

3rd time back at treetops, absolutely love it here, met the owner last time who was such a lovely guy! Nice get away from the world we all live in now. 3 days holiday here feels like a week away. Great to switch off and relax, with the huge options of activities that are also available to do. Great to get on the lake with the kayaks, horse riding, shooting, estate tour and walks through the native bush, this place has it all! Staff here are amazing, and makes the experience that much better! See you next time, cheers guys! Will be back

Driving into the estate is just the beginning of the experience. Keep going even though after a day on the road you may think you missed a turn. Eventually you will arrive at a most exquisite lodge. And then you are greeted by the staff who were very friendly & accommodating. The Lakeside villa was great and the meals were exceptional. We stayed 2 nights & 4 would have been better. Highly recommend the hike to Bridal falls. Beautiful water fall that you are up close to.

Treetops is very expensive (NZ$2835 per night, that’s US$1800) I can stay in the Four Seasons in Manhattan for significantly less. So these guys are charging top of the market rates. However, what you get is not even worth half that. The hotel was obviously built with some care 20 years ago, but now it’s tired. The picture is the entrance; your first impression. On top of the dilapidations, they tries to run the whole place with about six staff while we were there. The staff were friendly and helpful but they couldn’t possibly deliver a first rate service. Service is mostly nonexistent. The food is ok but nothing special (breakfast and dinner is included). Breakfast was pretty good but dinner was way short of a luxury experience. Don’t waste your money at this place.
