What You’ll Love…

The Property – Raw and secluded beauty unfolding alongside the Bay of Islands

Sprawled on the southwestern tip of the Purerua Peninsula in New Zealand’s idyllic Bay of Islands is The Landing; four unique residences dotted amongst 1,000 acres of natural splendour including six private beaches, an award-winning vineyard and lush wetlands. From garden-to-plate dining crafted from fish, crayfish and scallops caught by your own hand to wine-tasting from the onsite vineyard, you are invited to discover the spoils of the land and sea whilst staying in five-star privacy and luxury.

The Residences – Luxury living curated by renowned New Zealand architect Pip Cheshire

The Boathouse (for four people): Located on the water’s edge at Wairoa Bay, this gorgeous property, inspired by a colonial woolshed that used to stand on the property, boasts views across the 144 emerald-green islands of the bay. Offering plenty of space for a group of four (plus one additional child on a rollaway bed), the two-bedroom residence features a covered courtyard and an outdoor fireplace area, perfect for chilled-out evenings under twinkling skies.

Gabriel Residence (for eight people): Upgrade to the four-bedroom Gabriel Residence to soak up magnificent views from every angle of sea, islands, bush, farmland and wetlands. Four plush en suite bedrooms sleep eight people, plus one additional child can stay on a rollaway bed. The extensive living space and fully-equipped kitchen with scullery lends itself to entertaining, with a pool table, den, library and cosy lounge area to suit all ages.

The Inclusions – Daily breakfast provisions, a decadent cheese platter and more

Start relaxed mornings with breakfast at your leisure, which you can create in the comfort of your residence with your included daily breakfast provisions including free-range eggs and continental favourites.

Indulge in local flavours with a complimentary cheese platter to share; the perfect accompaniment to your daily bottle of The Landing wine, which comes as part of the property’s complimentary inclusions package along with a sightseeing trip aboard the property’s Iti Rangi boat, a wine-tasting experience, a vineyard tour and a kiwi-spotting tour with a guided evening walk.

See & Do – Wine-tasting, bird-watching, boating, biking or simply unwinding

With nature’s bounty on your doorstep, you’ll be absolutely spoilt for choice with beautiful bush walks and biking trails, where you can spot winding vines, incredible wildlife and native birds. This historically-significant land, home to the first European settlers, is also home to a number of prominent sites to explore, including the 1830 missions house, an old Maori village and old settler graves. Gather ingredients to cook up in your residence – whether that’s from the local honey and olive farms, artisanal bakery, boutique chocolatier or Sunday farmer’s market – treat yourself to a massage, charter a boat, go kayaking in the Bay of Islands, unwind with yoga… the choice is yours in this most spectacular of destinations.

Perfect for families, groups or special occasions

Enjoy the holiday of a lifetime with a group escape to The Landing, perfect for celebrating a special family occasion such as a big birthday or an anniversary in the midst of breathtaking natural splendour.

We couldn't rate our experience at The Landing more highly. After being picked up by boat and comfortably delivered to The Landing, we really enjoyed the in-depth, relevant and personal tour of the property and historical sites. Experiencing the story from vine to tasting to enjoying with lunch has us hooked! This isn't just another vineyard, it has ecological, historic, architectural value too. Very professional, comfortable staff who made our visit all the more enjoyable. We will be back.

We arrived by boat while touring the glorious Bay of Islands. From the moment Keith met us for the winery and history tour we felt the spirit and hospitality that this wonderful venue provides. The tastings reintroduced us to modern Chardonnay, which are completely different to the heavily oaked variety that we remembered from our early 2000s trips through Australia’s wine region and we were converted back.

We did a day trip for a winery lunch and tour and WOW! It was an amazing experience from the moment we were greeted at the Russell Wharf for the boat ride to the property to the moment we arrived back. The staff were superb, engaging without being pushy and gave us an excellent tour of the property explaining the history and its place in the emerging Aotearoa New Zealand nation followed by a tour of the vineyard and the winery. The lunch was delicious without being too overbearing or fussy. We also had a wonderful tasting but then we are chardonnay fans and (when we went there) they are 51% chardonnay. We never felt rushed and there was plenty of time to do everything and our questions were answered. It's not a cheap experience but if it's within your budget I would expect you to get your money's worth.
