I was surprised at how modern and nice the hotel was. I really enjoyed the games and things to do in the lobby as well as the eating deck, a perfect spot to relax after a day of hiking. The rooms were nice and had everything I needed. Parking is $40 for standard car but many parking garages in the area

Spent the last week at The Hotel Zags for the NEA RA in Portland, Oregon and loved every minute of it! Our location was great. Few blocks away from the water, some great restaurants, and could easily jump on the tram to get to where we needed to go. They had S’mores Hour from 7-8pm everyday—but don’t worry, they don’t cut you off at 8pm. 😉 Their outside seating area with fire pits was one of my favorite places to be each night. Their restaurant downstairs has some great food; I had the Bridgetown Classic with Fries and Ranch the first night, the Chocolate Soul Shake a few nights later, and then the Buffalo Chicken Wings with Fries and Ranch on Saturday. All were really good—and it was the *good* ranch, too! My FAVORITE thing about the place, besides the awesome staff (I believe one was Lyle and I didn’t sneak a peek at the name tags of the others who checked us in, told us about Insomnia & Boba), were the GAMES! My heart was jumping with joy when I saw they had the Vintage Bookshelf Edition of games; I have been slowly collecting these myself and only have a few. We played the heck out of Catch Phrase! and I am going to cherish those game nights with my friends at The Hotel Zags. Room wise, I was in room 549, which had two queen beds, a safe, fridge, single coffee pot, closet with an iron and board, and a TV. The only thing I ran into was my shower/tub draining slowly, but everything else was great!

I recently had an outstanding experience at Hotel Zags, and it deserves every bit of a five-star review! The outdoor seating areas with cozy fire places created a perfect ambiance for relaxation, and I absolutely loved how dog-friendly the hotel was. They even provided treats for our furry friend, which was a delightful touch. The overall atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, making my stay truly memorable. I highly recommend Hotel Zags to anyone looking for a pet-friendly place with inviting outdoor spaces. Can't wait to visit again!

I'm sorry to have to write a poor review, I really like trying to stay at boutique hotels instead of big brands, but Hotel Zags will not be one I return to. Parking was horribly tight, if you could find a spot at all and charged at $40/night. Then our AC didn't work in our room and the only thing offered was a free drink and a fan was brought to our room. Our window didn't open, so we were stuck trying to sleep in the 79 degree room. It made for a MISERABLE night of attempted sleep. We used the 2 washcloths provided (for a party of 4) to wet and drape over ourselves. The next morning we went downstairs to get breakfast only to find a very picked over sparse offering, no coffee available and no one working the area. We tried making coffee in our room, but someone had put grinds where you normally put water. A new machine was offered, but at that point, we'd had enough. They were able to send maintenance to fix our AC while we walked a few blocks to get coffee and breakfast. We also had occupancy and other taxes levied on non-lodging fees, so people are correct in their statements regarding hidden fees. We would not stay here again.
