The staff here is helpful and friendly (especially the Sunday early am morning front desk on 9/28) The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. And the location was incredible since it was super close to the Art Institute and Riverwalk. Overall an excellent stay. Highly recommend.

Stayed at The Allegro Royal Sonesta this past weekend for Chicago Jazz Fest, and let’s just say—it’s got that jazzy soul. I wouldn’t be surprised if they placed the musicians here on purpose. The hotel is stunning, with cozy, well-appointed rooms that made for a comfortable stay. I spent some time at the bar sipping great drinks, though I missed out on the small bites (they were out during my visit). Location-wise, it’s a dream—close to the river and just a short stroll from Millennium Park. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely consider lodging here again on my next Chicago escape.

We really enjoyed this place. It is well decorated, lots of seating areas in the lobby. Everything is beautiful. Free water in the room and at reception. They also have free coffee in a cafe, but we didn't take advantage of that feature. There is a restaurant and bar onsite. Our party had a birthday during our stay and they went above and beyond to make her feel special! The beds were so comfy. It felt so good waking up all cozy. There wasn't any noise coming from outside. The location is absolute perfection! We walked to restaurant row, deep dish pizza, water taxi, the French market, magnificent mile, etc. Everything you could want was easy to get to! There are certain spots that were a bit tight or small in the rooms, but overall I feel like for the city that is to be expected.

The room was smaller and less comfortable than most Holiday Inn’s I’ve stayed at. The rooms are poorly maintained. Flickering lights in the bathrooms, chipped paint everywhere, etc. They have those covers over the mattresses that tell you that they have had bed bug problems in the past. A quick perusal of other reviews shows that they do have bed bugs here. All of this for the competitive price of $250/night plus the “destination fee” of $32 they charge you after you check out. Avoid this place.
