Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square

We absolutely loved our stay at Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square! The design and ambiance of the hotel are stunning, the location is unbeatable, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. Every detail made our visit feel special, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Whenever we return to DC, we will definitely be staying here again. They were fully sold out and we able to offer us early check in at 12pm. We highly recommend staying here!

Centrally located to the sights and premium restaurants. The hotel staff provided us with the most memorable service we’ve had. There was a minor issue with our booking, which was quickly resolved by the front desk upon checkout. The property is immaculate! Our room was perfectly clean and well equipped. 10/10 would recommend for a short or long term stay.

I booked this hotel due to it it’s rank as a 5 star. And i honestly have no idea how it has this ranking. The AC in the rooms seems to not work okay. Adjusted the temperature multiple times to 73 and it stayed at 77 the whole night and woke up drenched in swear. The lobby wasn’t what i expected. Very small no place to sit or hang out if you have friends with you. They do offer coffee and tea in the morning in the lobby which was nice. And refreshments in the afternoon. The lady who was working overnight was very rude. Tried to ask for something and she didn’t even utter a word and she just went grabbed it and gave it to me. At least say you’re welcome when i say thank you? But the guy who checked us in was extremely nice. If you are looking for a view from your window this isn’t the place for it fyi. Overall would i stay there again? Probably not. Because the price isn’t for this quality.

We booked and paid for our room in advance. We called to ask questions and was told that our room would be ready and available when we arrive. Upon arrival there wasn’t a room available and we were told that it would be a 3-4 hour wait or we would have to take a different room on a lower floor. We informed them that we could not wait that long as we had reservations. We couldn’t understand why a room was reserved and cleaned prior to because we’d already booked and paid in advance. We were placed in a room that was not cleaned, the door lock broken. Used water cartons left for us and other people open food had been left in the drawers and their hair accessories as well. Everything was dusty, other people hair was visible on the bed and in the bathroom, it appeared to be coffee stains on the mattress, sockets didn’t work, work desk top was bubbled up, shades were broken and damaged. Iron did not work, and no microwave or fridge to keep our expensive leftovers cool. A wine cooler was there but that didn’t work either. We were placed in another room after our complaints and were told that they know we have to leave so they will wait for us to come back to speak with management. While we were out staff decided to enter our room to leave a bottle of wine and macaroons. We appreciated the gesture but did not like the fact that they waited to enter the room once we left. Overall, our experience was not good. The thought of being at what’s considered a 5star hotel makes one feel like their experience will be exceptionally great. And for some it may have been but unfortunately for us it was not.
