The Hotel is within distance of the White House. They have extra padding on the mattress which makes it very comfortable to sleep. It was quiet . I was on the 11 th floor .there is not much of a view but i did not ask for it. I prefer to pay for the location and the cleanness. There is a bakery one block called baguette which we had breakfast . We got a sandwich on our way to the airport. Also the other restaurant is the Old Ebbitt which is old oldest saloon but make sure you have a reservation . The service at the hotel was excellent by during the day light up the fire pit while we enjoyed their little terrace .Overall I would return to this hotel who is very well located and not to far from McPherson square subway.

My stay at this hotel was truly luxurious and a wonderful experience from start to finish. From the bellman to the concierge, every team member was attentive, professional, and welcoming. There was one staff member in particular who stood out — a tall young gentleman who worked at the concierge desk. Each day, he was consistently pleasant, courteous, and informative, going above and beyond to ensure guests had everything they needed. While I regret that I do not recall his name, he is the tallest member of the concierge team, and I would be grateful if this review could also be considered in recognition of his excellent service. The room service was exceptional, and every detail reflected a high standard of care and quality. The food at Opaline was also great. My overall experience was simply wonderful, and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to my family, friends, and colleagues.

Understated luxury at spectacular location. We stayed for couple of nights in October 2025 at Sofitel Lafayette Square in DC. I’m an Accor Gold Tier member and was allowed early check-in at 9am after a cross-country red-eye flight. This perk was absolutely amazing as I could freshen up and get to the town right away! Couldn’t speak enough about the location. White house - one block away. Washington monument and National mall - four blocks away. Quite walkable to lots of museums. Since parking in DC is quite distressing, the proximity to famous attractions as a tourist is wonderful. Top notch service. Upon check-in, we were greeted and helped immediately. Daily housekeeping made the bed every day. There were some complimentary bites served in our room for our welcome. We were offered 2 drinks at the bar as Accor member which we did not use. There was complimentary popcorn for Sunday night which we did not use again. The hotel did not have over the top hallways or center pieces, but made me feel quite comfortable and cared for throughout my stay. One thing I found little discomforting was that when I tried to call the hotel the day before to request for early check-in (around 11pm local time maybe), it routed me to an automated system. There was not 1 person I could reach to.

We booked and paid for our room in advance. We called to ask questions and was told that our room would be ready and available when we arrive. Upon arrival there wasn’t a room available and we were told that it would be a 3-4 hour wait or we would have to take a different room on a lower floor. We informed them that we could not wait that long as we had reservations. We couldn’t understand why a room was reserved and cleaned prior to because we’d already booked and paid in advance. We were placed in a room that was not cleaned, the door lock broken. Used water cartons left for us and other people open food had been left in the drawers and their hair accessories as well. Everything was dusty, other people hair was visible on the bed and in the bathroom, it appeared to be coffee stains on the mattress, sockets didn’t work, work desk top was bubbled up, shades were broken and damaged. Iron did not work, and no microwave or fridge to keep our expensive leftovers cool. A wine cooler was there but that didn’t work either. We were placed in another room after our complaints and were told that they know we have to leave so they will wait for us to come back to speak with management. While we were out staff decided to enter our room to leave a bottle of wine and macaroons. We appreciated the gesture but did not like the fact that they waited to enter the room once we left. Overall, our experience was not good. The thought of being at what’s considered a 5star hotel makes one feel like their experience will be exceptionally great. And for some it may have been but unfortunately for us it was not.
