Location location location. The hotel looks like a castle. They advertise they have a dress code, but no one seemed to notice or care that I wasn’t “business casual.” Everyone working there was extremely nice and we felt right at home. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else in London. We walked to all the attractions and sites we wanted to visit Buckingham Palace, London Eye, Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and tower of Big Ben, Piccadilly Circus. We actually bought a hop on hop off bus ticket but never used it because it was quicker to walk to the places we wanted to go. I can’t recommend this hotel anymore highly.

The hotel was mostly great, a comfortable room, friendly staff, good location and tasty breakfast. We had a triple room booked and when we arrived the third bed was not set up. The room also only had amenities for 2 people, even though we were 3 - e.g. 2 glasses, 2 mugs, 2 waters instead of 3. We had to ring up to request this to be changed but it was only actioned on the evening of our second night. I would’ve expected more proactive treatment from a 5 star hotel Breakfast staff were hard to come by, e.g. to get a cup of tea off.

Although the hotel lobby is gorgeous and the staff is very kind, the library suite we had was like a cave from the 1980’s. The furniture was banged up, the toilet paper holder on the first floor (yes, there were two floors) fell apart. Since the bedroom and closet were “upstairs,” we left our suitcases by the sofa on the first floor. Also, the floors were old and squeaky like those of a very old home. If you do choose to stay here for the wonderful location, ask for a remodeled room with a view. (Our room has no view and the windows were frosted to hide the brick wall so the little light we had was defused.) We did ask to be moved and were told that they were at full occupancy. If we hadn’t paid so much for the room, I wouldn’t care so much. Just incredibly disappointed because the hotel rooms are a big part of enjoying our vacations. I agree with another reviewer that this room feels like a 3.5 star room. Just to be fair, the main bath is very clean and more modern (2010) and the rooms are clean as well.
