Highlights

The Resort — A tropical oasis moments from Darwin CBD

Conveniently located for all of your Top End endeavours, Mercure Darwin Airport Resort is the ideal choice for those seeking a laid-back stopover or a relaxing base to explore the Northern Territory’s iconic natural wonders.

Each newly-renovated tropical villa is a personal sanctuary featuring a luxurious king bed and spa-like ensuite with envigorating rainshower — perfect for soaking away the sunscreen and desert dust from days in the outback. Slide open the doors and a private terrace complete with comfy sun loungers awaits, along with the villa highlight — your very own private plunge overlooking the serene wetlands of Rapid Creek.

The resort’s tropical ambience is a result of its first-class facilities enhanced by Darwin’s quintessential hospitality. The expansive palm-fringed lagoon is surrounded by sunshades and loungers, the picturesque landscaped gardens invite a feeling of peace and the newly renovated, beautifully lit Cossies Poolside Bar and Bistro provides the perfect place to indulge in a refreshing cocktail or two. Onsite, you can enjoy the convenience of not just Mercure, but also Novotel Darwin Airport, where you’ll have access to an outdoor lap pool, the exquisite Loong Fong Chinese Seafood Restaurant and a fitness centre.

When your escape comes to an end, relax knowing that Darwin Airport is less than 300 metres from your doorstep.

Local Tips — Want to know more about Darwin?

While you could easily spend your escape in the resort alone, it’s well worth making the most of your close proximity to Darwin CBD and the Top End’s surrounding attractions. The city centre, with its wave lagoon, seafood restaurants, pubs and the iconic Crocosaurus Cove, can be reached in just 15-minutes, while the cascading waterfalls and rock holes of Litchfield National Park and the jumping crocodiles that roam the Adelaide River are less than 1.5-hours away.

Further afield, the UNESCO World-heritage Kakadu National Park is a two-hour and 45-minute drive from the hotel — but the road trip is worthwhile when you can retreat back to your private pool. Closer to home, you can catch the scheduled shuttle to Casuarina Square shopping, dining and entertainment complex.

If you need more inspiration, our insider travel guide includes handpicked places to eat and drink, the best activities in the area, and special experiences to make your trip memorable.

Your Handpicked Inclusions – Daily breakfast, gourmet dining, welcome wine, complimentary Wi-Fi and parking

Enjoy the convenience of a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport for resort guests. The indulgence continues upon check-in, with a chilled bottle of sparkling waiting in your private villa.

Indulge in gourmet dining throughout your escape, including daily à la carte breakfast at Cossies Poolside Bar and Bistro, where you can savour Betty’s benny, smashed avo served with blistered cherry tomatoes and fetta or black forest pancakes (made with double chocolate batter) stuffed with strawberry jam and topped with vanilla ice cream. Revel in the tropical surrounds here with a one-time two-course dinner during your stay. Be treated to your choice of an entrée and a main or a main and a desert – the twisted apple crumble served in a brandy snap bowl is not to be missed!

Plus, feast on a one-time two-course banquet dinner at Loong Fong Seafood Chinese Restaurant, where the locally sourced menu features deliciously fresh scallops, prawns, lobster, bug tails, squid and more.

Location is next to the airport. There are 3 hotels - Novatel, Mercure and Ibis. Pool and restaurant. Food is delicious and the service is next to none.

I stay at Mecure most of the time , as the location is good for airport , shopping etc. The grounds are beautiful, gardens well maintained. Accommodation is good with different styles to choose from. Motel style rooms , with everything you need. Bungalows are great some are self contained ed others are not , but all have Tea & coffee with fridge . One bedroom suits are great plenty of room my favourite. Then you have the Tropical Bungalow with your own private pool , rooms a bit small but lovely to relax open door to pool area over looking bush land. Breakfast is ordinary hit and miss , not a great deal to choose from and mostly cold. If it does not come with room , I would not bother. Prices are not bad in off season , but expensive other times of the year. Overall it is a safe and comfortable place to stay.

The highlight of the Mercure is how close it is to the airport, that is where the highlights end. The room we are in is at the bare necessities level of basic. A soul-less box devoid of any character. Very echo-ee due to the bare walls. Our "balcony" is a dirt patch with a mobility chair abandoned in the dust next to us. The mini bar you advertise as a feature of the room doesn't exist. The pictures of the rooms on your site and booking agents do not reflect the rooms accurately. We selected the room based on these pictures. For the price paid I'm sure we could have found something much better. Having previously been a resident of Darwin, I probably should have known.

Staff are rude and English isn't thier first language. The room is more like a military style accommodation than a hotel room. There was black mould in the shower and dispite closing all the blinds and curtains there was still an excessive amount of light coming into the room.
