What an iconic hotel! The Fairmont Royal York is truly a gem, perfectly located within walking distance of many of Toronto’s vibrant neighborhoods and the waterfront. I was genuinely impressed by the care and hospitality of the staff, from the bellmen and front office to the team at the hotel’s outlets. Each time I visited the Champagne Bar in the lobby, I was offered a newspaper, which felt like a refreshing gesture in today’s digital world. As a solo traveler, I felt very welcomed. On my last day, I had a great conversation with Paul during brunch, which was a wonderful way to wrap up my stay. Every small interaction contributed to a memorable experience. I can’t wait to return!

Stayed for a night while attending a convention at the metro convention center (about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, a 30 minute walk from the airport). The curb appeal alone is insane, it looks like a castle and feels like one when you go inside. Everything is very ornate and gilded in the lobby, including the elevators. Check in was easy, check out was as well, just dropped our keycards at the box and left. Rooms were pretty standard but very clean, super comfortable beds. The real star, though: Service was exceptional every time I interacted with staff. We had leftovers from dinner, and they wouldn’t have fit in the mini fridge where they kept the premium drinks for sale. So they delivered a whole mini fridge to us?? The next morning we decided to order breakfast from room service. Woman who answered was the most professional and nice sounding person I’ve ever spoken to. Ordered the Earl Grey Tea Pancakes to split with my friend, and some coffee. It was all exceptional and arrived in less than 25 minutes. We even forgot to ask for a second fork and the guy who delivered our food went all the way down and back to get us one. 20/10 will likely book again if we attend that convention next year!

An iconic hotel with a rich history. I only spent one night, but everything was pretty dapper. At my request, they even got me a room with a view of the CN tower. Room was mostly clean, except for behind harder to reach areas. Facilities were good - gym well stocked - and the fine dining was delicious. Staff were very polite and professional. Of course, expect to spend a lot on everything, but that's to be expected at a five star hotel. Overall very happy with this experience.

It’s a large hotel in the heart of downtown Toronto, making it very convenient to access. From Toronto airport, the UP Express takes about 20–25 minutes to Union Station, and the hotel is right across the road. So the location is excellent, though the price feels high for what you get. The lobby is beautiful and the facilities are great. I used the gym, which had good equipment, towels, and even some snacks available. The room itself felt more like a standard 4 star room clean and tidy, but nothing particularly special. On my first night, I could hear music from a live band playing outside Union Station, so I expected better sound insulation for a hotel at this level. Breakfast was good. It wasn’t included in my stay (which gave me flexibility to eat elsewhere) but I tried it once. I personally prefer buffet-style breakfasts in hotels, which wasn’t the case here, but it wasn’t a major issue. The staff were friendly and attentive. Overall, if location is your top priority especially for quick access from the airport, it’s an excellent choice. Otherwise it feels like a normal good hotel but not worth the $500 CAD per night in my opinion. It does carry prestige (mentioning “Fairmont” often gets a reaction, as I even experienced with the immigration officer) but if you’re not looking for status or social media appeal, you can find similar service and comfort at other 4 star hotels in Toronto for much less.
