What You’ll Love…

The Tour – From Bohemian Quarters to Dracula’s Castle

You will discover the intriguing history and stunning landscapes of Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania on this incredible 11-day adventure.

Journey back in time with a visit to Sofia’s National Museum of History in Bulgaria, which features exhibits dating back 8,000 years, while at Bucharest’s Villa Museum you can view an open-air replica of artisan workshops and over 200 traditional peasant farms and houses that replicate traditional Romanian village life.

Stop off in Nis, an important crossroad between Central Europe and the Middle East. Here, you will find everything from the remains of an ancient Turkish fort dating back to the 18th century, to contemporary cafés and boutiques.

Discover Serbia's capital and oldest city - historic Belgrade - including the Kalemegdan Fortress and Saint Sava Temple. Spend an evening in the Old Bohemian Quarter of Skadarlija considered the main Bohemian quarter and often referred to as ‘the Montmartre of Belgrade’. Enjoy an included traditional Bohemian dinner of roštilj (grilled meat) with pivo (beer) at an authentic restaurant. Toast your fellow travellers this evening with Rakia, a delicious fruit brandy popular in the Balkans and enjoy one of the legendary live old-town bands.

Drive through the ever-changing landscape to Serbia’s Novi Sad, an interesting mix of Serbian culture and Austro-Hungarian architecture, nestled on the Danube. A walking tour introduces you to the city's major highlights including the Petrovaradin Citadel, also known as the "Gibraltar of the Danube," towering over the river. You will then travel to Timisoara in Romania, a vibrant city on the Bega River, built around lavish parks and gardens where the Romanian revolution began in 1989.

Uncover the incredible city of Sibiu in Transylvania, with its maze of cobbled streets and baroque squares. This cultural centre of Europe once attracted many musicians in the 19th century and today is the centre of Romania's major music festivals. Enjoy a tour that will give you insight into the city’s fascinating history, as you admire the Bridge of Lies, the first forged iron bridge in the country, as well as the Great Square, Little Square and the Evangelical Cathedral.

Next you will journey to Sighisoara, the best-preserved medieval city in Southeastern Europe with fortified walls, cobblestone lanes and quaint 16th-century houses that look like gingerbread houses from the pages of a storybook. From there you will venture to Brasov, a picturesque town nestled at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains.

Travel to Romania’s Bran Castle, also known as ‘Dracula’s Castle’ and uncover the ghoulish secrets of Transylvania's most famous vampire. Perched atop a 200-foot-high rock, Bran Castle owes its fame to the commanding towers and turrets as well as to the myth created around Bram Stoker's fictional bloodthirsty character, Count Dracula.

You will then reach Bucharest, a city with an intriguing past. Admire the city's replica of the French Arc de Triomphe, built in 1935 to commemorate the bravery of Romanian soldiers who fought in WWI, the enormous Parliament Palace, the second-largest building in the world, and much more. Here your tour will come to an end with a magnificent Farewell Dinner and Festive Folklore show.
